Stop the Fraud – Vote “NO” on Redistricting
The Virginia Constitution plainly states that Congressional Redistricting occurs every ten years, and the State Supreme Court and a popular, nonpartisan Redistricting Commission redrew the map of Congressional Districts following the 2020 General Election.
The 2020 Congressional District map produced 11 Congressional Districts that split 6 -5 Democrat to Republican in the 2024 election, a result that closely mirrored population trends. But that majority did not satisfy the Democrats.
Last October, in the midst of early voting and the casting of over 1 million Virginia votes, the Democrats pushed thorough a joint resolution that suppressed those votes and called for a by- pass of the nonpartisan Redistricting Commission. This ultimately produced a Congressional map that pushed 10 of 11 districts into districts dominated by the D.C. suburbs and resembles a spider’s web linking rural Virginia (including the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula) to places like Fairfax and Arlington Counties, and the City of Alexandria. The joint resolution was illegally passed during a special session of the legislature called for and strictly limited to budget reconciliation.
The Democrats coupled this blatant power grab with a fraudulent television ad campaign calling their campaign “bi-partisan” and intended to “restore fairness” to Congressional elections in Virginia. These laughable claims ask you, the voters, to believe that Republicans entered into a political suicide pact, and that the nonpartisan Redistricting Commission treated the Demoscrats unfairly by giving them the Majority of Virginia’s Congressional seats (while never explaining exactly what is unfair about the present system recently approved by two thirds of Virginia Voters). Perhaps they mean we’re unfair to California, Illinois, Maryland or other gerrymandered Democratic States.
If you don’t wish to become the next Minnesota, vote “NO” on the referendum.
